Course: This half-day course concentrates on key approaches and metrics that are used to value companies on a comparable, relative value basis. This is very often the first step in the valuation process beyond textual descriptions of companies. These are also the metrics frequently mentioned in news coverage and research reports as well as corporate communications. The course structure includes a blend of lecture, discussion and in-class exercise.

After the course you will be able to:

  • Understand common size statements
  • Calculate and understand free cash flow
  • Calculate and understand weighted average cost of capital
  • Understand breakeven, operating leverage and financial leverage
  • Calculate Altman bankruptcy model
  • Calculate ratios: activity, profitability and solvency
  • Recognize the limitations of ratios
  • Construct and understand Dupont analysis
Class Size: Registration is limited to approximately 15 participants to promote student participation and interaction.
